Dear Friends of Noble Maritime,
Please join me in joyful, victorious prayer. I want to mess with the Kingdom of Darkness!
I want motor vessel "Rodeo" (YW#75700-2235937) for the Lord's ministry. It is laying idle in Seattle, and the owner, Mr. Henry, has been trying to sell it for years.
I'm tired of pussy-footing around!
We've asked Mr. Henry if he wants to give it, or to consider a long term lease. Nope and nope.
Father You said ask.....

Father I want that boat as a tool to serve Your people.
Lord in Your authority I bless Mr. Henry and all that is important to him! We release Rodeo with accompanying operational funds into Kingdom service!
I bind small thinking and fear, and I loose storehouses of heaven, vision and boldness.
My pastor was praying the other day at a community prayer gathering, no less, "Lord, please give Neil a big boat wrapped with a huge red bow as a Christmas present." (I'll tell ya what, Rusty is track'n with God right there!)
Amen, amen. Hear him, hear him! :^)

Hi Friends! Well, winter is definitely here! This has been a busy month, including "Birthday Week", Josh coming and going, Thanksgiving, - all topped with almost a week of VERY cold temperatures and a load of snow! Dad had an encounter with a ditch on his way home from Oak Harbor in the truck, but some friendly guys in a bigger truck pulled him out! :-) We were stuck at home for a few days, unable to get the smaller cars out, but had no problems or catastrophes! The snow was beautiful, and seemed quite fitting to welcome in the Christmas season~

Welcome, Fall! We've been busy as usual, but oh so blessed! Here's September's Newsletter.
The biggest thing (in my opinion) that happened this month is that Betsy and I took our last exams for school, so now we are completely done! Once we get our official transcripts we will be college graduates with BA degrees! :-) It has been a marathon for the last two years - lots of studying and testing and chugging away at it. I have been marveling the last week at how faithful God has been to get us through it all :-) He is so good!
Now we are constantly getting the question, "You're done - so now what?"
Well, we both have a few ideas, but nothing definite, so our easiest response is, "I don't know exactly!" But that's ok :-) We are both excited to see what God has for us next in this interesting journey called life!

Hello Friends! Another month is gone, and possibly the summer with it, though we really hope not! August was busy and fun, full of good things! Read about it in this month's news letter: August 2010. The theme this month is "We can do things the hard way or we can do things the easy way." This month's newsletter shows how abstinence is the hard way and our loving Father has an easier way for us to be Overcomers!

One activity this month was Josh and I going up to Sidney B.C. to go on a 2 night sailing trip with Nana and Grandpa Harmsworth. We had one beautiful day and one not so nice, but it was a fun time :-)

We've been having wonderful warm sunshine for most of this month and boy, are we enjoying it! We just got back from our Carter family reunion (Mom's side of the family) down in the Puget Sound, during which we were water-skiing, tubing, and swimming - in salt water - until 7:00 in the evening! Now that's wonderfully warm :-) Dad did a great job of towing us around all day in the boat and teaching numerous young cousins how to water ski!
Anyway, enough about the weather... here is our July Newsletter:Do you know a 'Confident' kid? including a PK story, harvest news, simply messing around in boats, and more!

A foggy boat ride with Dad!

Hi Folks! Well, summer seems to be teasing us here in Northwest Washington! It comes for a few days and then goes again. Dad says that summer is never officially here till July 15th! I think he is usually right! :-P Well, lots has been going on - Josh got back from working on a film set in DC, he and I spent a week in Tulsa, Oklahoma with some friends, Betsy has had a successful horse reining competition, and we've had many people here for ministry retreats. Read our newsletter for some exciting news about restored marriages!

A ministry leader/ wife reported, “After 32 years of struggling with many issues, my marriage hit the biggest grand finale crisis of all and it seemed really over for good this time."

Then some weeks later we get this email, "WOW! God did something so over the top miraculous I can hardly believe it... We are moving home today."

April Adventures

Howdy Folks! I apologize that this post is so awfully late! I really have no excuse, even though we have been having computer troubles this month! We could use your prayers, especially Mom, because one of the major things that happened in April was that her computer (the main Noble Maritime computer) crashed, causing the loss of a lot of stuff, including all her photos. Betsy and I have also had both our school computers fail recently, and neither have been fully fixed, though thankfully they are usable again! And Dad's computer (the other Noble Maritime computer) will not connect to the internet for some reason! You really realize how much you depend on computers when they don't work for you! :-P However, because of her challenges, Mom has almost been convinced to just replace her computer with a Mac! That would be a new leaning curve for her, but hopefully worth it if it reduces the risk of crashing! Anyway, aside from that, April was good! I (Julie) finished my two online classes and enjoyed a week-long spring break, and Josh is back for a few weeks so we are enjoying having our brother around! Last weekend the three of us went camping on Hope Island and had a blast!

Here is April's newsletter - God's Top Priority for You! A note from Dad: If the Kingdom of God has three main provinces or states, what would those chunks of real estate be called? Remember the scripture: The Kingdom of God isn't a matter of eating or drinking but of "righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit"? (Rom 14:17) In the attached letter, we address one of these crucial ingredients and its empowering characteristics. Will you join us in pursuing JOY?!!!

Betsy and Hobbs

Hi friends!
Well, I think spring might be here! The flowers are beginning to bloom and we've had two gardening days this month to work on our extensive grounds! We've also been to a fancy benefit dinner for Youth Dynamics in Anacortes (Dad was a good sport when it came to dressing up!). And Betsy and I have had a few work days at her barn burning the huge burn pile. It is now almost gone! Last weekend we all four went over to Plain, WA so Dad could meet with the Theophostic group there, and we girls enjoyed the short vacation!

Hello friends! 2009 was a blessed year for us, thanks to our generous Heavenly Father! We know that 2010 is going to be even better because we are on a journey to know Him better and "the more we see, the more we love Him!" (from a song by Matt Redman). We are expecting great things! Fall is here again!

Hi friends! Well, it looks like summer is over! I, at least, am not too sad to see it go - I love fall :-) But we did have a great summer! Just last week Josh's outreach team flew into Seattle and spent a few days with us on their way up to Alaska. It was so nice to see Josh, even for just a short time. And last weekend Betsy and I finally took our boat trip that we have been wanting to do all summer! I think we picked the last nice weekend of the season :-) It was a cold night but we had lots of fun camping out in the boat by ourselves.

I have seldom felt so compelled to share a message as this month's topic:

Unresolved Disappointments Undermine Trust in God.
We have numerous great testimonies to share but the Lord seemed to want this message out first.

Who hasn’t been disappointed? However, few of us have been taught how to truly resolve disappointment so it doesn't hurt us in the long run. Therefore, most Christians are subconsciously living a program to avoid risking further pain of disappointment. But, if walking by faith equals risk, and we really want to move forward in our faith... we're stuck! We need to resolve this problem, yes?

Forgiveness

Here is an excerpt from our April 2007 newsletter - it is an essential insight on forgiveness!

Like many of us, George was taught at an early
age to “forgive your brother” when the volume
of sibling conflict attracted the attention of a
distracted and frustrated parent. We can all
picture it: two angry children facing each other
with an adult insisting, “Sammie, you ask
George for forgiveness!” and “George, tell your
brother you forgive him!” Then the two walk
away from each other with red, tear-stained
faces still angry.
Years later, in his early twenties, George is
deeply wounded by his wife who is having an
affair with his best friend. As trained, he tried
to forgive her. Now, in his late forties, anger is
a prominent character trait, causing problems in
his third marriage and his relationship with
God.
As George related his current struggles to me,
he reported that he had forgiven his first wife
many, many times but that wound was still
filled with pain! When time and time again the
pain of that rejection surfaced, he thought, as
many of us would, “I guess I haven’t truly
forgiven her or it wouldn’t still hurt.” What
was actually binding him to that old painful
wound was a common ignorance about Jesus’
teaching on forgiveness.
Until recently, I too believed that a good
Christian should forgive people. But that isn’t
scriptural! The Word teaches that we are to
forgive trespasses, iniquities, sins, and debts -
not people! The Greek verb ‘Aphiemi’
(forgive) means to ‘send forth, send away, to
cut off or completely cancel’. So don’t ask God
to forgive you, but instead ask Him to forgive
your sins.
In Matthew 18:27, Jesus uses financial debt to
explain the concept of forgiveness: “The
servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the
debt and let him go.” The few places where
Scripture says, “Forgive them”, it is implied
that the sinful words, actions, neglect etc.- the
debt - is to be canceled, released and cut off,
not the person. The focus of forgiveness is on
what was lost or what is owed to them.
So in George’s case, we were able to help him
verbalize what his first wife’s unfaithfulness
cost him (e.g. self respect in his town, sense of
personal worth, ministry opportunities, etc.)
and how that loss hurt/wounded him. Then
with God’s enabling grace, he declared the
‘debt’ that she owed him canceled once and
for all - never to hold her responsible for that
debt again. Then as he released the associated
anger to the Lord, he received in exchange “the
peace that passes understanding”.
The fruit of forgiving the debt/trespass was
that his current relational interactions no longer
‘triggered’ his old painful wound because it
was healed. The anger had served as a self
protective shield and was no longer needed. We
have seen the captives set free many times as
proper Biblical forgiveness is exercised. Our
Heavenly Father so wants us free from self-destructive
unforgiveness! (George’s story is a
fictional compilation based on real people’s healing
journeys.)

Summer has brought us some amazing weather so far! We have been out in our little boat a lot enjoying the heat and sun! Betsy got to go on a SALTS sailing trip on the Pacific Grace, I've been enjoying my job on a work boat out in the San Juan Islands and I water skied for the first time! Noble Maritime continues to bless many. This month's newsletter is titled 'Confessions of a Minister's Daughter' because Betsy shares some insights about the wonderful freedom that comes from inner healing from Jesus. Enjoy! Welcome back to Noble Maritime's blog! Here is September's newsletter about dealing with grief - how to become free :-)

We had our annual Noble Maritime Ministries adviser BBQ at the beginning of the month - it went well (the food was fantastic!).

Last week Neil and Kathy were blessed with some "time off"- a 5 day retreat made possible by a generous donation from a supporter of NMM! It was so timely and was a huge blessing; those days were mostly filled with sleeping and resting - getting recharged to go at it again! :-) Thank you so much!
The four of us were also able to go to the State Fair in Puyallup for an evening to hear Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith in concert! It was a fun experience, and well worth the long drive to get there!
I (Julie) have succeeded in producing a short DVD presentation for NMM including pictures from the May boat retreat! It was shown at the BBQ and will hopefully be up on the web at some point! :-p
Thanks again so much for the prayers and blessings :-) We value all our team members a lot!

We are home again from a fantastic Boat Retreat! Your prayers to a gracious
God obviously worked again.
One of our guests commented that she felt that she was being covered by
prayer while onboard and so did we.
On a scale of 1-10 the pilot program was a 9.95!
These pictures only begin to share the wonders.

Hello again! April is almost gone, but it has been a good month! We had a wonderful time last weekend volunteering at the Christian Heritage homeschool conference near Seattle, WA. While working and enjoying speakers we met some neat families and made some good connections. Our family was very encouraged and our purpose renewed!

Hello Friends!
We apologize for our lack of diligence in keeping up to date with this blog! We are still in the midst of major upheavel and transition as we pull up stakes in Port Townsend and try to get settled in Anacortes~ it's challenging getting stuff done in a moving office! But we are here! God has been blessing us with great new friends and relationships, and He is teaching us valuable things as we keep trusting and relying on Him from day to day.
We are still looking for a house here in Anacortes but have been provided with places to stay in the meantime by wonderful, generous people. Hopefully sometime soon we will be able to put up more of our recent newsletters for those who have not been receiving them. Thanks so much for all the prayers and support we have received from those who love us! Keep in touch!
